I do believe that the plasma exchange is working, but it just takes a while. I have more and more feeling in my leg, although my foot stays quite numb except for my big tow-weird feeling! We went to a couple of stores in Mt. Pleasant yesterday after church and I tried using the cane instead of the walker. I wasn't quite ready to do that yet. For some reason, large stores and lots of people really mess with my balance, so I either had a death grip on the cart, or used one of those motor cart things. BTW, I'm not that good of a driver! Just asks the folks at Meijer, aisle 7 in particular. (Clean up, aisle 7, clean up, aisle 7!) Nice.
I would say I have about 70% percent feeling back, which is wonderful. The nerve pain is o.k. when I wake up, but becomes progressively worse as the day continues. By evening, it is making me a little crazy as I try to distract myself from it, but I'm good at mind games! :-) I do take double and sometimes triple the evening nerve pain meds, which also makes me tired. This is good because the steroids make it hard to sleep. Speaking of steroids, I am tapering down 5 mg every five to seven days and hope to have reduced from 60 mg to 40 mg by next week. I have to play it by ear to see if I can handle that, or if I have to go more slowly.
Your continued prayers are appreciated, and I know they are being heard! Everything takes time that's worth doing or having, and everyone is fighting some kind of battle. Therefore, keep your chin up, and know you'll make your goal, one step at a time, gotta keep walking, walking, walking! Make somebody's day with a quick handwritten note. When is the last time you wrote a "snail mail?" Take five minutes and do that today!
Blessing--James
