I had been off antibiotics for 3 days, and my finger began to balloon, turn red, and move quickly down my finger further than the first time. Guess who ended up in the same hospital as his mama? I never should have made a joke about it!! This time I was given two antibiotics & told that if this doesn't work, surgery would probably be the next step. "That'll never happen," I thought.
I finished both antibiotics on August 15. Guess what came back with a vengeance in ONE day! Grrrr. August 16, Kim drove me to Greenville ER, who said I needed to see a hand surgeon, so I was transferred to Blodgett in Grand Rapids. August 17 at 10:00 am, I was given three fun-filled shots in the hand, and while I sat there, taking a quick peek or three, they cut out my entire fingernail, scraped around it, plus made two other incisions each about a centimeter long where newly infected areas could drain. TALK ABOUT A PEDICURE!! I looked like Mickey Mouse flippin' the bird! (I'll add a picture later this week.) I have a couple of gross pics, but they may be too graphic for the faint at heart. (I took them because my two teenage boys are into gross!)
I'm typing this post in the hospital with one hand; rather talented, eh? I hope to go home today, August 18, or mañana, depending if they put a pic line in for antibiotics.
Thank goodness I put up 20 bags of sweet corn in the freezer before coming back to the hospital! As always, I appreciate the prayers & good thoughts that come my way!
May the Lord bless your socks off!
