It's Baaaaack...
I was told two days ago that my blood sugar had to be checked and I said, "Any finger but the middle finger." THe nurse must have only heard, "middle finger," and she poked that one, you know, the one that I had three reoccuring staph infections! The top of my middle finger was quite swollen and my Croatian doctor had me putting an antibiotic cream that is used to fight Mercer, so it's pretty major stuff. It took the swelling down. Today I woke up with my same middle left finger throbbing and swollen around the second knuckle and thought, "This is NOT what I think it is!" Oi! It really hurt. I wanted an IV antibiotic since I'm here with an IV line in my hand that's not ever been used. The same doctor wants me to use the same cream, calling it a "second generation antibiotic cream." I will see by tonight if it's actually working. If not, he knows he will get a call at home and prescribe an IV.
I had a substitute neurologist, being a Saturday, who wanted to briefly know my medical history. Really? That'll be an easy six year summary. I gave him the very briefest history. He asked me why I think this is auto-immune and how I justify plasma exchange. "I'm not the doctors who have been working with this for six years. I know that this treatment stops a flare and reduces the nerve pain and helps with balance issues."
He actually responded by saying that pain is subjective and does not justify this treatment. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I would love for him to have my nerve pain for 30 seconds and then ask him how freakin' subjective it is. I wanted to tell him to take the first flight back to India, but, of course, I didn't. It just amazes me how arrogant some of these doctors are who literally know nothing about my case, and really are not interested. I can't wait to get my little "Spectrum Health Patient Survey" in the mail. This will be the doctor billed as "out of network" like last time that I'm supposed to pay for. I don't think so.
Well, let's turn our attention to the big Michigan/Michigan State game. Michigan State just about had their first touchdown, but had to settle for another field goal, making it 6 State, Michigan 3 in the second quarter. I won't publish this until the game is over. ;-)

O.K., State pulled off a great game! Who's the "little brother" now? I can't wait to rub that one in the face of a huge Michigan fan who is a neurologist on Monday. :-)
Amazingly, this cream for this staph infection must be some "big guns" because my finger is much improved this morning, although I have a way to go for it to be completely gone.
Enjoy your SONday! The sun is actually shining this morning;
